AFCAT 2020 – How To Apply, Eligibility Criteria And Exam Pattern

AFCAT or Air Force Common Admission Test is one of the most important exams conducted by the Indian Air Force. AFCAT will be conducted twice in a year during the month of February and August. Air Force Common Admission Test is conducted for selecting Class-I Gazetted Officers in Flying as well as Ground Duties for both Technical and Non-Technical.

Air Force Common Admission Test is considered as a gateway for both the male as well as female candidates who mainly like to join Indian Air Force in Flying Branch based on Short Service Commission as well as Short Service Commission or Permanent Commission in Ground Duties. Normally, candidates who selected based on the performance of Online exams as well as AFSB (Air Force Selection Board) Interview. Aspirants who mainly opt for the Ground Duty Branch (Technical) mainly required for appearing in the AFCAT as well as EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test).

Application Form:

AFCAT Application Form 2020 is available for the candidates from the first week of December 2020 until the last week of December 2020. Application Form needs to be submitted only through the online mode.

Aspirants who like to apply for the examination are requested to access the official website or www.careerairforce.nic.in for filling the application form. Before submitting the application form, candidates need to check it thoroughly with the application fee and need to submit it online. Application fees will be Rs 250, and it is necessary to pay online via Credit Card, Debit Card, and Net Banking. To fill the AFCAT application form Aadhaar Card is mandatory. Below are the steps required for filling the application form

For Registration:

  • Visit the official website of Indian Air force or click www.careerairforce.nic.in
  • Click “Candidates login.”
  • Fill in the registration details – Name, E-Mail ID, Mobile Number, and many others
  • Click on submit
  • New Registration ID and Password sent to the registered E-mail address

For Application Form Filling:

To apply for afcat 2020, it is important to have a valid registration ID, and then you can follow the below procedure.

  • Fill the completed application form
  • Select the preference of branch
  • Choose AFCAT Exam Center
  • Choose Subject for EKT exam
  • Upload your signature
  • Upload your Photograph
  • Enter Submit

Payment Of Application Fee:

After filling the online form, it is important to make payment mode. For making safe Application Fee payment, follow the below instructions on the online. The exam fee of INR 250 would be made through ‘Make Payment’ on the main menu. Normally, the application fee is non-refundable. The examination fee could be paid with the use of Debit Cards, Credit Cards, and Net Banking payment gateway.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates who like to appear for the AFCAT Exam 2020 are required to know about the Eligibility Criteria. Candidates need to complete 4 year graduation course with a minimum of 60% marks to apply for the Flying Branch.

Nationality – Candidate must be an India Citizen

Flying Branch – For the AFCAT and NCC Entry, the candidate must have the age of  20 to 24 years as on January 1, 2021

Ground Duty (Technical And Non-Technical) – Candidate needs to be 20 to 26 years of age as on January 1, 2021.

Marital Status:

Candidates who apply for the afcat 2020 require to fulfill eligible criteria. Candidates need to be below 25 years of age and should not be unmarried during the commencement, of course. Widowers, widows, and divorcees who are below the age of 25 years will not be eligible for the course.

Education Qualification:

For Flying Branch: Candidates need to Minimum of 60% marks at 10+2 level in Maths and Physics. Candidates must complete the Graduation with 3 years degree across any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks from a recognized university.

Selection Procedure:

Candidates who are selected in an online written test needs to clear the interview round as well so that selected aspirants also clear both rounds and eligible for the IAF course.

Air Force Commission:

Candidates selected in the AFCAT will be directly commissioned as the “Permanent Commission” or ‘Short Service Commission” in the Indian Air Force. Candidates who get selected in Flying Branch for SSC will have the job duration of about 14 years. Those who are selected for the Ground Duty (Technical Branches) will have a duration of 10 years. The duration could be extended for about 4 years based on the availability of vacancies, requirement as well as willingness. Candidates who get selected based on the Permanent Commission also continues to serve in the Air Force until the age of superannuation.

Training:

Selected candidates will be trained during the first week of July 2020. Normally, the duration of training time for Flying and Technical Branches will be about 74 weeks. The duration training for Ground Duty Branch will be 52 weeks.

Online Test:

Registered candidates will be required for appearing for Online Test. The maximum marks allotted for AFCAT will be 300, and a test paper of EKT will be 150 marks.

AFSB Interview:

Candidates who passed in the AFCAT exam will be selected for the AFSB Interview. The AFSB Interview comprises of 3 stages such as

Stage I:

Officer Intelligence Rating Test, Picture Perception as well as discussion test conducted

Stage II:

Psychological test conducted and Group Tests and Interview commence with document check

  • Negative Marking: Each wrong answer 1 mark will be deducted
